Fortunately, there are plenty of ways you can keep the temperature in your conservatory from skyrocketing to unbearable levels in summer. Here are some of the best ways to keep your conservatory cool, arranged according to ease of implementation (easiest to hardest):
- Open Windows and Doors keep every door and window open to allow cool breeze to waft through your conservatory during summer. Oftentimes, conservatories become hot because heat goes in through the suns rays, but not enough heat gets out. Just remember to close them when you no longer plan on staying there, as robberies become increasingly common in places with open windows and doors.
- More Plants in addition to producing oxygen and removing carbon dioxide, some plants can also remove harmful toxins in the air while cooling down the surrounding area. Some great plants to add include Aloe Vera, Boston Fern, and Snake Plant.
- Powerful Fans Youll want to invest in a strong fan or exhaust to help bring cool air in and hot air out of your conservatory. You will have to consider, however, the size of your conservatory, as large exhausts and fans tend to be unbearably noisy, more so for a small conservatory.

- Cooler Colors floors and walls that arent made of transparent glass will inevitably absorb some of the heat from the suns rays, with darker colors absorbing more heat than lighter colors. By opting for light, pastel colors, you help your conservatory reflect the suns heat instead of absorbing it.
- Air Conditioning arguably one of the most effective ways to keep your conservatory cool from the scorching summer heat, air conditioning units are unfortunately expensive to purchase and install. Also, keep in mind that running air conditioning in a conservatory will cost you much more money than running air conditioning in a room with cement or wood walls simply because the air conditioner has to work harder to pull the heat out as the suns rays beam them back in. - Conservatory Roof Replacement if your conservatory is more than a few decades old, you might want to look at getting new self-cleaning tinted glass roofs, as theyre much more efficient in keeping the conservatory cool in the summer. This, however, can cost much more than the initial cost of the purchase and installation of an air conditioning unit.
